BBC usability testing of the beat website
Performing a selction of task on the Beta website, i have some feedback regarding the usability of the website.
Find out news headlines- In the lower section of the beta homepage the most popular news headlines were displayed making it easy to find the breaking news.
Find out the weather for Southend- All I needed to do was to click on the weather icon in the top right hand corner and then enter the desired location you want the weather for. When entering a location in the search bar, it recognises what you are typing, this saves you having to type the whole location in.
Find out exchange rates-Wasn't clear from the onset as to where I could find the business or financial section from the beta homepage.
Feedback from my prototype designs
I recieved a range of feedback from Hollie regarding how easy it was to use.
Location the buttons on the homepage was an easy task and Holly was able to acheieve this and understand where the links took her in the system.
Next I asked Hollie to perform a range of tasks by asking her how I could improve the appearance of the video and make it more obvious to the user. Hollie suggested that I should use a play pause navigation arround the video to easily identify that this is a video showing a golf drill. I could also input a magnify icon on the images and video to show the user that this is what happens when you click on the image or video. This will make it much easier for the user to navigate arround my system and will make their experience much more productive.
